I LOVE DOUCHING!! OMG I recently started douching and I love it but now that I’ve read up more on it, it’s making me think twice.

It’s basically an apparatus to go in and clean your vagina and I love how fresh I feel afterwards but just check out the cons below..

According to WebMD.com, here are the pros and cons of douching (listen up):

What are the pros associated with douching?

Some women say douching makes them feel cleaner. There is, though, very little scientific evidence of benefit from douching. The rare positive research that does exist often has a downside. For example, one study found that douching during the six months before pregnancy reduced the risk of preterm delivery. However, in that same study, douching during pregnancy was linked to an increased risk of preterm birth.

What are the cons associated with douching?

Overall, the risks of douching far outweigh the benefits. Here are just a few of the problems linked to douching:

• Vaginal infections (bacterial vaginosis). Douching upsets the natural balance of bacteria in the vagina (called vaginal flora). These changes make the environment more favorable for the growth of bacteria that cause infection. Studies have found that women who stopped douching were less likely to have bacterial vaginosis. Having bacterial vaginosis can increase the risk of preterm labor and endometriosis.
• Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). PID is an infection of the uterus, fallopian tubes, and/or ovaries. Research has found that women who douche have a 73%25 higher risk of getting PID.
• Pregnancy complications. Women who douche more than once a week have more difficulty getting pregnant than those who don%e2%80%99t douche. Douching also increases the risk of ectopic pregnancy by as much as 76%25. With an ectopic pregnancy, the embryo implants outside the uterus. The more a woman douches, the more her risk of ectopic pregnancy rises.
• Cervical cancer. Douching at least once a week has been linked to an increased chance of developing cervical cancer

Should a woman douche?

According to health experts, including those at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), you should avoid douching. Having some vaginal odor is normal.

In most cases the vagina’s acidic environment “cleans” the vagina. However, if you notice a very strong odor, call your ob/gyn because it could be a sign of infection.

The acidity of the vagina will naturally control bacteria and the only time you should douche is when your doctor tells you to.

What is the best way to clean my vagina?

According to WomenHealth.gov, most doctors say it’s best to let your vagina clean itself. The vagina cleans itself naturally by making mucous. The mucous washes away blood, semen, and vaginal discharge. You should know that even healthy, clean vaginas may have a mild odor.

Keep the outside of your vagina clean and healthy by washing regularly with warm water and mild soap when you bathe. You should also avoid scented tampons, pads, powders, and sprays. These products may increase your chances of getting a vaginal infection.

I think quite a few of us can conclude 2011 was a pretty SHIT year. I even have a 2011 SHIT LIST.

In order of the shittiest..

1.  Having a few loved ones pass on..yes A FEW = MORE THAN ONE.

2. Finding out Audrey needs to leave to London for 2 years

3. Making the hardest decision to leave my ex company for personal development.

4. Coming to terms that I have become a fatty bum and I needed a lifestyle change

But there were some good moments…

1. I traveled A LOT.

2. If I didnt start exercising regularly I wouldnt have lost weight.

3. I am actually getting some personal development in all forms from my new workplace.

4.  Feels like I spent more quality time with my immediate and extended families in 2011. Just check out Christmas to New Years..

Honestly 16 year old Anto, what’s wrong? You’re being insecure over nothing:

1.  Yes..your hair is extremely curly, embrace it

So what if in the early 2000s, straight hair was the epitome of beauty. Give it 6 years darling, the perms are coming out.

2. Having one year of ugly was the BEST DECISION OF  YOUR LIFE.

Yeah..I dont know how to tell you this. Basically, you decided on having a life changing event (a risk you took really).

You cut off all your hair, you put on braces and you dived yourself into homework, art and dance. The good news is, is that it all paid off

Your hair now has the spiral locks you’ve been waiting for (with almost no frizz) and you got bangs. Your teeth is straighter and

3. So what if you look anorexic, enjoy the fact you can eat whatever you want.

I know you get annoyed about people commenting and even gawking disgustedly at your skinniness. What else could you do? You trained for dance and cheerleading A LOT so that just skyrocketted your metabolism. Plus, you were one of the rare few who enjoyed PE.

You even ended up having a couple of modeling gigs so stop listening to their unpleasant commentary. The rest of the world knew better and trust me - when you’re 20, your attempt to put on some pounds succeeded so enjoy whatever you can eat now cos at 24, you’ll be watching your diet.

4. Don’t forget who your REAL friends are.

I know you’re still finding yourself and being the easy-going kid that you are, you found yourself with some pretty bad company. Luckily, you knew better and stayed true to yourself.

As angry as you were with some of your friends (at 16, there were enough childish reasons), they will be the ones who would still be there for you.

5. Perfection is perceptive.

There is no clear represenation of what perfection is. I know you and your current friends all had a similar vision of what perfection is at the time but girl, THAT was not perfect.

The people who you thought were “perfect” in school – perfect body, perfect looks, had the perfect boyfriend etc and who you strived to be like them, ended up being bums with no real assets.

In fact, you outgrew that idea of perfection when you were in Ngee Ann Poly, Mass Comm and were exposed to new ideas. (Oh yeah I forgot to tell you, you did make it to Mass Comm).

See, you were already perfect in your own way which leads me to my next point..

6. Stop caring about what others think about you –  be as daring as you want and live.

You may not believe me now but at 24 years old, you’re beaming confidence. See even typing this out is a shocker to you right? You’re 24 year old self doesn’t give two shits anymore about what the world thinks about her and here’s what you have been doing to get to this level:

1. You survived full-time school, part-time work (poly)

2. You survived part-time school, full-time work (uni)

3. You never took $$ from your mum after leaving secondary school (unless it was a loan which you paid back in your next paycheck)

4. You survived having 4 close family members passing on in 2009-2011.

5. You worked your ass off and became a manager at 22 years old. You have trained various teams and made a difference.

6. When you weighed your heaviest at 57kg (I know shut up, I know you’re 45 kg now), 2 magazines did features on your sense of style.

7. But one of the biggest trigger for this change, is when you started dating again and it wasn’t planned. And no Anto, not Omar. Good lord I completely forgot at 16 you still liked this fella..no Anto, big no.

You stopped liking him that very year actually..cos you found someone better so dive right in

Remember, you know me and I wouldn’t lie to you so take it all in for a sec and enjoy yourself..

God..I have such bad hair fall okay guys.

Don’t be deceived by this big bush on my head, it looks like I have a lot of hair but A LOT MORE drops every single day in my shower

I currently use another salon brand but it’s specifically for curly hair in this humid weather so it doesn’t focus on treating the hair fall problem. AHhhhh!!! You just take a look at my bathroom…*horror*

When the Sample Store asked me to review the new CLEAR Nutrium 10 shampoo range, I thought it couldn’t have come at a better time

The main difference between other dandruff shampois and the new Clear with Nutrium 10 is that it treats the root cause. It not only infuses the scalp with nutrients three layers deep but also helps to rebalance cell proliferation processes to restore the scalp to its healthy condition.

I decided to try the CLEAR Women Ice Cool Menthol shampoo in the morning…hopefully this minty cooling shampoo will wake me up on those dreaded monday mornings man.

Verdict

• Really refereshing, the scent lasted till mid day.
• $9.40 for 350ml, $14.30 for 700ml
• For all scalp and hair types

Since I went to the gym,  I washed my hair at night with CLEAR Women Anti Hairfall shampoo.

It’s for weakened scalp and hair and it’s suppose to strengthen from the root to tip and increases hair’s defense against hairfall and breakage.

Verdict

• Smells nice
• For curly hair, seriously needs to be paired with conditioner because it felt really dry afterwards
• $9.40 for 350ml, $14.30 for 700ml
• Used for 3 days so far, not really much difference yet.

There is also the Men’s range of CLEAR Cool Sport Menthol and CLEAR Anti Hair Fall.

The difference between the Men’s and Women’s ranges is mainly due to different scalp needs. I passed it to my friends to try and they loved the musky smell of the Men’s Cool Sport Menthol shampoo that contains ”active menthol”.

The Men’s Anti Hairfall shampoo has not shown much results for them yet but will probably need up to 1 month of usage to see a difference (results may vary).

It contains pro-strength Ginseng Technology for weakened hair fiber. It’s main goal is to strengthen your hair and defend against hair loss.

If you guys want to give it a try, it’s $10.30 for 350ml, $15.70 for 700ml.

From the busy life in the city to the rest of the world, I just can’t get enough of the feeling when I reach the airport and start walking through duty free to gates of my next destination.

But which ones were truly my favourite in terms of ambiance, food, location and overall service? From one Singaporean to another (and you guys all over the world), here are my top picks for hotels in Singapore so come and escape with me…

• Ambiance: 9/10 (Please have your breakfast outdoors next to the Singapore river)
• Location: 9/10
• Food: 8/10
• Service: 9/10

2. Grand Corpthorne (Click Here For Blog Post)

• Ambiance: 7/10 (Rooms are cosy but when you walk around at night, you KNOW you’re in SG when you see teenagers puking outside)
• Location: 7/10 (near Zouk but inconvenient without a car/taxi)
• Food: 9/10 (their dinner buffets are sick!)
• Service: 8/10 (efficient)

3. Pan Pacific

• Ambiance: 8/10 (the view is fantastic)
• Location: 8/10 (walkable from City Hall MRT, near shopping etc)
• Food: 7/10 (affordable prices)
• Service: 7/10

4. Hotel 1921

• Ambiance: 8/10 (we got booted to the suite and had Kiehls toiletries)
• Location: 7/10
• Food: 6/10
• Service: 8/10

5.  Capella

• Ambiance: 9/10 (really relaxing, didnt feel like I was in SG)
• Location: 3/10 (good lord..i hated getting to Capella)
• Food: 7/10
• Service: 7/10

6. Hard Rock Sentosa (Click Here For Blog Post)

• Ambiance: 8/10 (good for families with kids – BIG POOL)
• Location: 7/10 (need taxi/car. After taking the monorail, you’d be tired of traveling)

• Ambiance: 7/10 (good for hosting parties though)
• Location: 10/10 (Clarke Quay, McDonald’s, MRT are all downstairs or a 5 mins walk)

• Service: 8/10 (all necessities for a party is provided – iPod dock, DVD player etc)

8. Swissotel 

• Ambiance: 7/10 ( nothing really stood out actually)
• Location: 9/10 (good to book for F1 and shopping)
• Food: 7/10
• Service: 8/10

9. VIP Hotel

• Ambiance: 6/10 (it’s more of a budget hotel..very quick getaway)
• Location: 8/10 (very convenient to get to..it’s at Somerset)
• Food: NA – ate out mostly
• Service: 7/10

10. Fragrance Hotel…Geylang/Aljunied? Can’t remember

• Ambiance: 7/10 (this hotel…was an experience, spent most of my time out of the hotel )
• Location: 6/10 (you know why but it proved to provide much entertainment)
• Food: 7/10 (the food around the hotel was fantastic!)
• Service: 4/10 (small rooms, lousy check-in)
